I just completed my first installment of The Sense of an Ending. I must admit the reading is even easier than I expected. I mean I could literally ready 40 pages per hour!!! That is insane given that I read 8 pages per hour of Atlas Shrugged (five times faster). I must also admit that I like this book. First of all, I find the narrator to be straight forward. This is what allows me to read through the book "like water" (Mr. Shapiro). However, I do not know how much I can relate to the Narrator. I honestly feel like his is a wannabe hipster, but ends up just looking like a pretentious fuck (Honestly I have never seen someone try so hard to look smart)! The truth is though, that I can relate to the situations that the narrator has been in (but I would never react the same as him). More over, I find the book to be interesting even at a philosophical level. Even though most of the philosophy that was brought up was short and just for a narrative I liked the quotes that Julian Barnes uses. Finally I like the word chose that Barnes uses. He puts words that make the novel seem more like a narrative (which I like).
So far I have read forty three pages and still do not really know where Barnes is going with this story. I feel like it is just a string of events, but I would love to be wrong. Anyway, this book is good and it is not going to be hard to read. In fact I might read a little before going to be tonight. I NEVER READ BEFORE GOING TO BED SO THAT IS SAYING A LOT!!!!!!
